Five very heroic soldiers

Five veterans have stationed themselves at Fort Hood in Kileen, Texas campaigning for the right to heal. They are there as part of Operation Recovery, a program of Iraq Veterans Against the war, that is fighting to stop the deployment of traumatized troops.

Army puts $17M toward suicide research

We are happy to hear that the US Army is trying to find a way to curtail suicide amongst veterans. But this is huge problem now, and will probably be an even bigger problem in the near future…

veterans suicide prevention hotline photo essay

The statistics coupled with this photo essay by Ashley Gilbertson leave alot to the imagination here. Knowing that they received around 100,000 calls last year, and that vets account for 20% of the US suicide rate makes me think about the suffering that these men and women are facing.
